So yesterday, Saturday, my brother and I went to go
see Ethpaña and El Salvador play against each other at FedEx Field
in Maryland. We literally have gone to every Northeast friendly game Spain have
played. Our first game was in Boston in 2011, then last year they came to the
Yankee Stadium and now they came to Maryland to play before El Mundial.
Gosh, I really love this team. Like it's so unconditional it makes me sick to
my stomach. I HATE THAT I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

These were the best seats we've ever had, two rows behind the field. They were the dream seats, literally. Like it said so on my ticket vvv |
But this game wasn't as great as the ones I've been before. It was mainly due to the stick policies cause I had to give in my book bag that carried my cameras, wallet, headphones (that I accidentally left in there), and charger. When we were walking towards the stadium and I got in line for security, the told me "You have to put the bag back in your car" and that crushed me. My mom and aunt had dropped us off and I had no where to put my stuff. I had to take everything out and stuff what I could in my pockets and give some stuff to my brother. It sucked. On top of that, some of the fans were as obnoxious and ratchet, yes I said ratchet haha. And I've never given so much attitude at an event in my life. These people just didn't know how to act and were in the wrong seats and it just made me so aggravated. Also, us Spain fans were dominated by El Salvadorian fans. Throughout the stadium, all you saw was a sea of blue which never happen more up north. See what I mean vvv
Once I got past security and into our seats, which we eventually had to move again cause we were sitting in the wrong section (but our actual ones were even better cause we sat next to the tunnel), everything was dandy. It was just that when the players were coming and exiting, people would come squish the hell outta me and the other people that where sitting in the same area. But my brother and I got some good picture of players, I was on cloud nine (imagine if I met them face to face, yikes).
Of course, my boys won 2 to nil and both were scored by Dah-veed Vija (David Villa). Yeah, you have to say his name in Spanish or it doesn't sound right. Here are some more snips of the game though (you can click on them to make them larger) :
There was a lot of yelling, aggravation, cheering,
sweating, and shots that should have been goals (from Spain). Overall, I love
watching them play every single time. I'm super excited for the World Cup now
which they should be heading to now, if not they should be there. Hopefully, they
can be named "World Champions" again.
Now, before this post gets any longer, I'm just gonna write how
I began loving this team so much. Well, basically Fernando Torres aka My
Niño cause I feel like people should know. I think most people know how much I love him. Let me just start by blaming
it on my dad haha I really didn't ask to be a fan. I remember back in 2009,
before the World Cup, I was getting really into fútbol. You know, I
played for my high school and all that. So before the World Cup, my dad wanted
to order a Torres Spain jersey and I ordered it online for him. When it came,
my dad just randomly told me "Here, you can take it." Let me make it
clear, I wasn't into any international teams at this time, I just liked FC
Barcelona. So I did my research on and I was starstruck. My first footballer
crush was David Beckham but man, Fernando Torres was a God Among Men to me.
From there on, I was hooked. I googled the Spanish National Team and Torres
cause I wanted to know more about them cause I would feel foolish rockin'
the jersey and not knowing much. At this time, they were claimed "The
Kings of Europe" winning the Euro Cup 2008 and people had great
expectations from the for the World Cup. And guess who scored the winning
goal making them "The Kings of Europe" … TORRES! But I know he
was going through a tough time as well with an injury, which really pushed back
his skill potential. I know I was becoming one of his fans at a really tough
time in his career but that didn't stop me from always rooting for him (I love
him like a fan girl but defend him like I'm his mother haha). I actually think
that made me become a bigger fan, just believing that he will get better cause
even till this day he's having trouble being consistent in his performance. I
don't even think anyone understand when I genuinely say that I love this
guy, not in a typical fan girl way though. In this World Cup, I know he's gonna
be able to make him mark. I have faith in him. And that is the story of my love
for Torres, the rest is history!

Look how cute his smile is! Bless. |
After this game, there was a MLS match, D.C. United x Columbus Crew. I was able to shake all their hands even though I knew none of them haha and I got signatures for this kid cause I was closer. They weren't as entertaining or good. At least our hotel was awesome with free continental breakfast! Overall, it was fun to get out of Jersey for the weekend.
